Guest guest
i just have a simple question, does most people with rosacea not have disabling pain? is rosacea that causes extreme pain the norm, or is it more rare. i use vicodin for my extreme flare-ups. i have the kind of flare-ups that drive me to the Emergency room. the pain is severe and crippling. during my last huge flare-up i was crying so bad in the ER and trying to hide my face and eyes from the lights. i felt like the lights were burning me. my face gets bright, fire red and purple and swells and weeps. they gave me the vicodin which takes the edge off the pain, and also seems to really help the bad swelling i get. i've been using the vicodin for months now when i flare-up badly. does anyone else have severe pain and what do you do for it. i'm getting ready for a 3rd photoderm treatment in a week. i'm thinking of asking a doctor for something called " clonodine " does anyone have experience with it????? i'm now also trying " rosacure " a cream i ordered from Canada. i just got it though and have only used it for a couple days. i've been tested for lupus, which came back negative. the doctor said he thought it was a really extreme case of rosacea, especially for my age (25). i also experience severe migraines during flare-ups, and in turn my tremors also get worse. FYI i have a neurologic disease called generalized dystonia (related to parkinson's) which causes twisting and tremors. i'm going to be sent to pain management at my HMO for my other problems (dystonia, kyphoscoliosis, hip dysplasia and arthritis) but i'm wondering what they do in the pain management programs and if it would help my rosacea (or would they take me seriously about my facial pain). majorie you said you work in a hospital, do you know? thank you to everyone... Guest guest
Angie, I'm an emergency physician who has rosacea. As others have shared with you, most rosaceans do not suffer from disabling pain but it's not unheard of. Pain control clinics have been a godsend for many, many patients suffering with chronic pain. The doctors and nurses specialize in pain control, that's all they do, and chronic facial pain associated with a number of conditions is not so uncommon. It's a wonderful new specialty, although of course I can't speak specifically to the facilities at your HMO. Good luck. Guest guest
Marjorie - Can you explain why it is that some people with rosacea suffer such pain? Is it connected to other medical problems?
