Hello I found this information:

Presently, there are two types of flu vaccines available: the injection and the nasal spray. At this time, only one type of flu vaccine is recommended for people with MS.

Recommended for people with MS:

ü The vaccine that is recommended for people with MS is the traditional flu vaccine that is delivered by injection, known as the “the flu shot”. This type of flu shot contains an inactivated form of the virus that is shown to be effective and safe.

Not recommended for people with MS:

ü The other flu vaccine that is not recommended for people with MS is a vaccine delivered by a nasal-spray. This type of flu vaccine contains a live form of the virus and currently there are no studies indicating effectiveness and safety for people with MS. At this time it is recommended that people with MS do not use this form of the flu vaccine.

MS Center of Excellence

Echinacea is a bitter herb from the daisy family generally used to treat colds, flu, colic, and infections. Some studies have shown it to have an antibiotic, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory qualities. Though these qualities are generally good, echinacea is NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PEOPLE WITH MS because it boosts the immune system, which is already over-active in MS.

If you take a flu shot and have MS you run the risk of having a relapse. Be careful.

I think the reason people have said not to use it is that it boost the immune system, and if you have auto immune diseases they say not to boost your immune system. Also vit c, and obviously ldn. I use vit c a lot to stay healthy, and perhaps boosting the immune system is what we need. Conni

[low dose naltrexone] Flu shot question

I was wondering how many of you plan on getting a flu shot this year? I got a flyer from my hospital to remind me about flu season and flu shots.I have never gotten one before. I admit I work in an environment that people get sick all the time and still come to work, I work in a call center. What are your thoughts? Thanks,

>FWIW,

Be careful in getting the flu shot (especially if you already have MS or

another chronic illness) Almost ALL flu shots have the preservative,

Thimerosal (which is 50% mercury) in them. Initial studies have shown

that continuous exposure to mercury, which can build up in the tissues of

the body, has been shown to CAUSE illnesses such as these (also ALS,

Parkinsons, Alzheimers, etc...) I would advise taking Cod Liver Oil

supplements, a good multi-vitamin, 500-1000 mg of Vitamin C, B Complex and

CoQ10 enzyme, have some faith in God, and skip the flu shot until they can

make a " safer " one. Our bodies need plenty of Vitamin D, which in the

winter we don't get it naturally because of the lack of sunlight. Cod

liver oil will give you this. Vitamin D is great to ward off the flu. If

you do come down with the flu, take Elderberry and it helps cut the

symptom time almost in half.

Just my own opinion -
