Guest guest
For the first time in my life I was denied an apartment. I am checking to see it is my credit or some that show up some place else, I have heard of health issues being a factor. Walt Dear Walt, Did you ask the landlord or the leasing agent why your application was turned down? There has to be a valid, legal reason and I believe the law protects you by making that information available to you. Rental properties are subject to strict guidelines regarding non-biased rental procedures. If there is a problem with your credit, certainly you need to be aware of this, and health issues should not be an issue. Perhaps you could speak with your local legal aid to make sure your rights are being protected. There are state, county and city agencies that provide pro-bono legal services for those in need of help with these types of discrimination. I'm sorry this has slowed up your search to be on your own. It's good that you are on good grounds with your parents, yet I know how much you are looking forward to being in your own place and not dependent upon their generousity all the time. Don't give up, keep trying for your own space. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina Southeastern Representative Pancreatitis Association, Intl.
