Guest guest
Hello Ella, Welcome to this wonderful list. I was born in Nth Ireland, Belfast in fact. I came to Australia when I was 4 so I don't remember anything from Ireland. My family all still live there except my immediate family of course. I have two children with Irish names , Liam & Eilish. My grandmother nearly died when she heard their names as apparently they are Catholic names and were prod's. But I know nothing about all that so I just loved the names. Eilish is the one with Cf she is 5. She is very Irish with her pale skin like me. My husband is ish so what a mixture we have. Welcome again (Australia) mummy to Liam 8 wocf & Eilish 5 wcf
Guest guest
Ella, Sounds like you've all been through the mill. I hope it turns around for your family now. I've only ever heard the name Eilish about those co joined twins in sthn. Ireland about 8 years ago. That's when we decided if we ever had a girl that would be here name. Her middle name is Molly, which is also Irish for , which is my mums name. Has your niece for a middle name? Speak with you soon. (Australia) mummy to Liam 8 wocf & Eilish 5 wcf Ireland Calling Once Again !! Hello Again Everyone, Thanks so much for emailing back. It was really great to hear from so many of you. I'm only getting a chance to write back now because I was out of work all of last week. Everyone in the house got, what we're calling in Ireland this year, the Winter Vomitting Bug. The 8 and 5 year olds are fine but of course poor auld Aoife got an awful dose of it. She is still far from well. She has stopped vomitting etc. but she is so pale and is only eating a few bites here and there. It's really hard to have patience sometimes ! Anyway, I don't know whether or not your hospitals and Clinics would advise differently but I thought I just had to inform you of what happened to us last week. I rang the hosp. the first day Aoife got the bug. They said, treat her as I would the other girls with small drinks of water etc. etc. no food until her stomach settled down and that I was to leave her off her antibiotics for two days. I did all of this. In the middle of everyone else in the house not being well with their stomach, I had Aoife, who is 10 yrs old, almost climbing the walls with nightmares. Of course I didn't realise until afterwards what was going on. The first night off the meds, she had nightmares all night, I slept with her to try and comfort her, the next day, she was getting them even during the day and that night again, until 4 am in the morning. I thought my child was going mad ! My partner finally suggested the fact that it might be she had no meds for almost two days and it was like she needed " A Hit " , she was getting withdrawals from the drugs and that was giving her the nightmares!! I knew the minute he said it that he was right. This may appear very obvious to lots of you but I was so busy trying to mind Aoife and the other two girls, Maeve and Shauna, that I never thought of it. It was a rotten experience and I feel somewhat unnecessary for her to have experienced. At least all is well again, well kind of, for now. Thanks again for being in touch. A special Hello to Barbara, and . My one and only sister lives in Australia with her hubby and 4 children, I miss her dreadfully, so it was especially great to hear from you three. I visited Australia once, years ago. We stayed in Sydney and travelled to Melbourne for a week and also Canberra for a long weekend. Amazing place. , my little niece in Australia, is also called Eilish and is fair and blondie too. Barbara, that thing with Kristy and the breathing. Aoife very much suffered like that and still does really, especially with PE in school and stuff. We use the ventolin before PE and then sit some of it out if she's just not up to it. , hope Sian is doing ok. Pity we didn't live nearer to either other, we could join WW again!! or do a Pilates class or something !!!!! C., it can't be easy with the twins?? and I complain. Christy, mom of Wyatt. Aoife and I also have those conversations about her just hating the fact that she has CF. It's really difficult as you try to explain yet again and your heart is breaking inside. Also lovely to hear from Sheila, n, , , Torsten and Shrikant. Hope I'm not forgetting anyone. Thanks so much to all of you for your kinds words of encouragement. Ella.
