Guest guest
Hi Stefanie, My daughter is not diagnosed ASD simply because she is far too young to diagnose. We have been told, however, that our children have a genetic predisposition for ASD. So, if Elle had the proper environmental triggers (which heavy metal exposure, bacterial or viral infections, food allergies are), this could be enough to bring on ASD. In fact, Elle's metabolic functions and gastrointestinal condition are so impaired (revealed by lab tests) that we were told she would have become profoundly autistic if we had vaccinated her. Our DAN is positive that Elle will be neurotypical, though, since we are addressing her problems so early on. A full recovery is expected. It is just going to be a lot of work and time. My oldest daughter, Margeaux (5 yr.), has ADD which is considered by some to be on the spectrum. She also has gastrointestinal problems which fit the profile of autistic children. My son, (3 yr.), does not have a specific diagnosis but we are told that his gastrointestinal problems are as severe as children with autism as well. He has some quirky behaviors, so I know that these problems affect him neurologically. But I will say that SCD has brought about tremendous progress in his and Margeaux's situation (we have not been as successful with Elle because the chelation prevents much progress). We did a " chelation challenge " with Elle at 12 months. We used a transdermal form of dmsa (I like the transdermal because it avoids the gut) from wellness pharmacy. She responded very well to it, pulling a significant amount of metals. After our DAN reviewed all the test results from the challenge, we started her on a regular schedule of transdermal dmsa (3 days on, 11 days off) when she was 14 months. We just recently doubled her dosage as well as the frequency (3 days on, 4 days off) because she regressed so much throughout the two weeks while we were waiting for the next chelation weekend. Once she lost her speech. And her stools would get so gritty and disgusting. She also would get a little spacey. Since we increased her dosage and frequency, she has made great strides neurologically. She puts together puzzles, assists in loading and unloading the dishwasher, wipes up her own spills, tries to dress herself, and says a handful of " true words. " She still gets a little spacey in between chelation weekends. And the grit in her stools shows up a little bit in between her applications. Her rash continues to flare a bit in between times too. However, none of her symptoms are nearly as bad as they were before we increased everything. My hope is that we can finish our chelation soon (she has already eliminated 5 of her metals in two months). She has 6 metals left to go, but she continues to excrete well. After that we will direct our focus to healing her gut with SCD. We are doing SCD now, but -- as I mentioned before -- the benefits have been minimal due to interference from the chelators. Hope this helps! Guest guest
Thanks for taking so much time to respond with such detailed information. It is really appreciated! Is your daughter diagnosed ASD? I noticed that she is quite young. Our son is 14 months, so I was wondering... Also, when did you start chelation with her? Thanks again -- I appreciate so much the info that you sent. > > Hi , > > My daughter (16 mo.) has the most severe case of eczema that I have ever > heard of.
