I have told very few people about my surgery. My husband and mother-in-law,

my direct supervisor, and four close friends. Since I was off work for a

week, when I came back to work, I told people that I was being treated for

ulcer-like symptons, thus the carafate and prevacid and antacids. This

helped when I refused to eat with them and ate yogurt and jello.

When it gets to the point that people notice I am losing weight, I will just

tell them I decided to do something about my weight.

I just didn't feel people needed to know about my personal life...plus I was

a little afraid I would be Dr. R's first failure and didn't want anyone to

know.

Elaine!

You are a woman after my own heart! I told all of my in-laws that I

was being treated for ulcers because I just couldn't deal with their

comments. My mother-in-law always said I had to have a " crutch " for

my weight problems; isn't she adorable???:-( As far as being Dr R's

first failure, I wrote him about this a couple of weeks ago because I

was sure I would be his first patient ever to not lose and possibly

even gain weight from this surgery! He told me to go see my

psychiatrist, he said I was depressed. Well, I'm over that now, but

I know the feelings and they are real concerns. Take care and good

luck to you!
