Now I would be very, very sure that if you have pancreatitis then most

hot spices will attack the pancreas. I have given up them all, from

chilli, cayenne pepper, curry right down to ginger as they all attack

MY pancreas and are liable to put me in hosp. I can eat bulk garlic

and onions OK, but none of the hot spices.

If I were to have tobasco I would be rolling qround the floor in an

hour and in a hosp within 2 hours!

When we took Cassie to the Nutritionalist she had no idea what CP was. We

had to wait 45 minutes for the Doctor in the Diabetis clinic to finish with a

patient so he could explain it to her.

She then pulled out a book, Copy write 1990, and read to us about what Cassie

could and couldn't eat. I was told to limit her fat to 25%. Her GI told me

no more then 20% and never todays in a row. She also told she could have one

free meal a week of anything she wanted . That was my $145 nutritional

consultation.

My opinion of the amount of knowledge anyone who does not suffer from CP is

nil.

Yes, Bangor is in Maine (ME), Massachusetts is MA. Please don't get me

wrong. I know there are people out there are knowledgeable on CP but just

not here. When you chose to live in Maine you have to give up a few things.

Unfortunately, one of them is access to the best and the latest medicine.

Cassie has 2 GI's and her PCP that are great. Though they are not as

knowledgeable as the Big City Dr.'s they don't have that God complex so may

have They are more than willing to listen to the information I get once and

have even tried a few things with her. It's they other people we end up

dealing with along the way. That have no idea. I just love explaining to

health care professionals CP in kids, what tests they should run and how to

treat her pain. At times even telling them dosages. Hope that Gives you a

good laugh. Try this one for a laugh, on top of all that Maine has one of

the most expensive healthcare systems in the US.

Patty,

Thanks for the clarification.

You are well served by doctors without god complexes, it is important

to hang onto doctors and all medical professionals who treat this a

journey of partnership. With the partnership everyone has an equal

voice and with respect. I have the utmost respect for a number of the

doctors in my personal team, and they listen to me which means I will

do anything that is decided.

The best thing with my surgeon is that he gives me all the options and

asks me what I want.. that is fabulous empowerment and for someone

feeling less useful as a person everyday, it is the thing I need most!

We all have tremendous rights in medical care, world wide, ad we are

responsible for ensuring we make sure we get what we are entitled to!

have a nice day in Maine, and everywhere!
