Guest guest
I joined this list over the weekend, I have not been diagnoised with pancreatitis. We had Kaiser and they ran some test initally but decided my problems were mental.. > I have constant pain, in my abdomin, intestines, stomach, and a burning pain in my back, I have had it for over a year. It gets worse at times, but seems to hurt always more or less. > > Been trying to treat myself for stomach ulcers, but nothing seems to fix it. I dont need the hassle of going to a doctor that is not interested in helping me. > Hi , Large doses of tetraclycline have been known to cause pancreatitis, but you stated that you've been having gastro problems prior to taking the tetracylcine, so I would suspect that it is something else causing it, and the heavy concentration of antibiotics only magnified your symptoms. You didn't mention what tests had been done before you were told it was all in your head. It's frustrating to be told that, to be sure, but sometimes doctors will say that when they really don't have a clue. That's when you have to be as persistant as the pain and discomfort is and keep searching for answers. Sometimes it means finding a new doctor to discuss your problems with. If it is chronic pancreatitis, or even some other gastrointestinal condition, you will need to have an experienced gastroenterologist in your pocket to oversee your care. So don't give up, or try to self treat or self diagnose. It's apparent that you have some obvious hypoglycemic concerns, this could be tied in to pancreatic problems, but a specialist would be the one to find out what it is, and what is causing it. Post again if you have any questions, we're here to help you however we can. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina hhessgriffeth@... Guest guest
, I, like you, haven't been officially diagnosed with pancreatitis either. Althought I have had documented " issues " with my pancreas (a surgery that removed a muscinous cyst and part of my panc & and now I have another cyst) they still won't/can't diagnos me with pancreatitis. I, like you, have Kaiser. Kaiser has been good to me most of the time. When treating me for my chronic strep throat and things like that they are great. I also like the fact that they usually do not hesitate to do ultra sounds/ct scans. But for some reason the GI dept. has not been good to me. I have obvious signs of pancreatitis but because my amylase & lipase come back normal they will not suspect my pancreas. It is frustrating, so I know how you feel. But please do not give up on finding out what is wrong with you. It is your body and only you know when something is wrong. No one should have to live with pain everyday, let alone live with it and not know why you have it. You just have to keep searching for the right doctor. You will find the one that will take time to listen and who will want to help. If you don't mind me asking, where do you live? Take care and I hope you are feeling well. Marisa San Diego, CA > I joined this list over the weekend, I have not been diagnoised with pancreatitis. We had Kaiser and they ran some test initally but decided my problems were mental.. So I quite them.. And quit trying to figure it out, but it is not going away.. > > I have constant pain, in my abdomin, intestines, stomach, and a burning pain in my back, I have had it for over a year. And took the treatment right before one of my episodes. I have hypoglycemia alot, I usually get it after having blurred vision and seeing stars. But yesterday I had stars after eating and usually the stars come when I dont eat enough. My blood sugar runs in the 80,90 range. Usually low normal. And has been as low as 50, when I have checked. > > In the past I have thought my problems were pancreatic, but not confirmed. For awhile thought it was pancreatic cancer, because of the hypoglycemia, and the location of the pain, lately I been seeing information on pancreatitis, and wondering if it might be that.. Reading the causes of pancreatitis, I saw it can be chemically induced, I saw that tetracycline is one of the offending drugs, I took tetracycline(along with some other bad drugs and chemicals) right before a big attack, as part of the h. pylori treatment. The attacks feel like heart attacks. Along with panic, and pain. I dont have them often, but had one last week, and have been in extra pain since. > > Some of the experiences I read sound like me, but cant be sure. I dont need the hassle of going to a doctor that is not interested in helping me. > > I am difinately chemically sick, but it is possible it is affecting my pancrease, infact my pain feels like something burning or eating me from the inside out. The acid sounds about right. I dont drink, at least not enough to mention. > > thanks for listening > > >
Guest guest
Marissa, if you need any help in getting phone numbers Kaiser, let me know and I'll see if I can get them for you since I work for them. By the way, which Kaiser facility do you go to? Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@...
