Guest guest
I have read many things, specualtions why died. I now feel the need to set the record straight. We the family had given Dr. Rutledge permission to tell whom ever wanted to know what happened. died from a leak. One of the stitch leaked and caused sepsis in her system and she died from it. I have talked to doctors and the person who did the autopsy, and they say that it is 50/50 if people survive a leakage. I also have talked to Dr Rutledge and asked him if was too sick to go through the operation and his answer is no. She was not too sick, her previous health problems were not a factor in her death, and if they were Dr Rutledge would never have operated on her. I was worse off than she was, and I did not have a leak and surived very well. So please now you know that she died from a leak, from the operation, and NOT from other health problems. This surgery is a major surgery, and one complication is death. If you are considering this surgery then make sure you have all the facts. Make sure you take care of your buisness, etc. We all get very excited that this surgery is the answer so we tend not to want to look at anythign negative that could happen. That is not good because that leaves us vunerable to what ever might happen. We have struggled for ever with weight and now there is a surgery that can help us to loose it and keep it off. You also have to know you can gain the weight back. The body, e.a. the bypassed bowled will eventually compansate and start absorbing calories again. That is why is it so important to keep the stomach small. This is all information I have gotten from Dr Rutledge personally and it is in the manual. As for me I would have this operation knowing what I know even if my sister died. Just remember there is no mistery why she died, she died from complications from this surgery. As for Theresa, I know for a fact that she was in contact with Dr Rutledge the whole time she had her complications. He worked with her and she with him to be able to solve this problem. The reality is that like in all aspects of life, this surgery is not for everyone. For some, very few, thank God, it does not work. That does not mean that is does not work for you, it is working wonderfully for me. When you decide wheter or not you should have this surgery, it has to be your decision, big life style change is in stock for you but for me it has been wonderful as much as I have been able to enjoy it due to my sisters passing. I know later on I will be more than I am now. I hope I have set the record straight, no more speculation why died, and if you want to know about Theresa maybe she will tell you herself. Usually it is best to get life changing informations straight from the horses mouth. I have gotten so many letters from people asking me if I reccomended this surgery, it is dangerous because the decision needs to be yours. It worked for me but not for , if had gone on my reccomendation, my God I would not be among the living. I can only tell you how I am, and how things have changed for me. You need to get all information you feel you need and then make the decision for you, not because I tell you so or because died from it. When it really boils down to it,,,,,,,, it is your life and you have to live with it not me or anyone else. Dr Rutledge is a good surgeon, but he is not God. He is a good man, but he is human. He will do whatever he needs to do, and make the best decision for you as a surgeon, the rest is up to you. All our lives we have to take responsibility for us and our actions and befor and after the surgery it does not change. The surgery is a tool to help us to become healthy, well that is my opinun, it starts and ends with us............ and God.
