Guest guest
Hi everyone-- I am hoping there is someone out there who can help me. I have had rosacea for two years now--mild to moderate and only ON MY CHEEKS-- been managing. Over the last two months I have really been taking all my guns out to try and get rid of it/suppress it/control it once and for all. I am on the east coast; it's cold here. Even indoors, I'll notice the tip of my nose getting cold and slightly pink--lately once I am in bed, I feel MY NOSE get hot and a huge flush begins led primarily by my NOSE. Is this my body warming up? Is this thermoregulatory flushing? My cheeks are fine, it is only my nose. The only changes I have made in the last 6 weeks have been adding PAXIL. CLARITIN (which has stopped all cheek flushing). GRAPE SEED EXTRACT (2OOMG 2/day). B-COMPLEX (w/ niacinimide). Is there any way of preventing this from spreading? I can't figure out why I am flushing. Any ideas as to why I am flushing? Anyone? Sincerely, Marie
Guest guest
Hi Marie, I think I'm getting rhinophyma also. My nose enlarges and swells when my " triggers " occur. I even asked a plastic surgeon for help and there's nothing he can do to shape the end of the nose. What helps me, besides staying away from trigger foods and elements, is Sy's Zinco lotion and her liquid makeup. Even when I have a trigger, the makeup hides it well. Drink plenty of water at all times too, that helps. Try and keep a diary of when it happens. That really works so you know what to avoid. Caffeine, diet soda, nutrasweet, cold, hot etc... Good luck > Hi everyone-- > > I am hoping there is someone out there who can help me. I have had > rosacea for two years now--mild to moderate and only ON MY CHEEKS-- > been managing. Guest guest
Taking Pycnogenol 2x daily helped (But didnt eliminate) my VERY early stage Rhynophyma.. I had only had it noticably for maybe a month or two... People close to me would notice if I pointed it out, but that was the extent of it... really really mild. So I don't know if Pycnogenol would be effective for someone who had it worse than I did. Later I stopped the Pycnogenol, and it came back. (It had never gone away completely, but what had gone away came back). I have now had 4 Photoderm treatments, and the swelling in my nose is practically gone. Although I have noticed that I never used to flush on my nose before and now I do... The photoderm practitioner told me this would only be temporary but i'm a bit nervous. As far as the Swelling aspect tho, Photoderm cleared it up on my nose right away. Adam
Guest guest
Yes. Thanks for getting in touch. I made a chart to see what it is that I have changed in the last month, what preceded this ridiculousness...I added Claritin (which helped my cheek flushing tremendously), Grape Seed Extract, and Paxil. Well I stopped them all. One at a time. Paxil last. The day I stopped Paxil, the evening flush did not happen. That doesn't mean Paxil is the culprit though--one must give a week for each substance/chemical to leave the body. I will introduce one at a time, to see what the problem is--also, for the last few days, it has been warmer here--there is the chance it has nothing to do with my meds. My derm suggested that I might have Raynauds'--I looked this up--a coldness in extremities (nose, fingers, feet, hands)--an inability to jump from one temp to another without causing a flushing or tingling sensation in the extremities. Related to poor circulation. And yes, my nose, and feet were cold thruout the day--I thought b/c it actually was cold... Still one of the possible causes of Raynauds' are nasal medications/decongestants/antihistamines that cause vasoconstriction. Claritin? I don't know. Only experimenting will tell. But so far so good. Will keep you posted. I hope this info will be helpful to anyone else out there with a similar problem (please refer to original posting, 36091.)
