Hi folks,

We're planning to start SCD very soon, but I'm having a little trouble

theoretically transitioning my wife from GFCF to SCD. Her main concerns

are that our son had high IgG sensitivity to eggs, bananas, casein and

cheese, among other items, and she's worried about reintroducing these.

Also, she's worried that reintroducing fruit and honey, after their

being no-nos on our GFCF/sugar-free diet for so long, is going to bring

back bacteria and more yeast.

Anyone have a good layman's way (beyond the book) of explaining why

these key foods that were off limits are now OK? Were they OK all along?

Thanks, Bill

Hi Bill;

I recently posted about the same general topic. My child is also GFCFSF, sugar

free, fruit free, avoiding IgG intolerances etc. I too have reservations about

introducing some of the SCD foods, especially those containing casein.

Sorry I'm not much help. Thought I'd let you know we're in the same boat. I'm

interested to read replies to your post.

The science behind GFCF differs from that of SCD. They allow starch that we

believe is

harmful and indigestible. The book, BTVC explains all this:

We ask that people familiarize themselves with the book " Breaking the Vicious

Cycle " , by Elaine Gottschall (henceforth referred to as BTVC) and the website

www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info before posting questions to the list. We also

ask that

people familiarize themselves with the website for this group,

www.pecanbread.com

before posting to the list.

Currently we are doing a Casein Free SCD. You do not have to do the dairy to

have a well balanced diet...but will need some SCD probiotics or almond

yogurt...or something to get these. Many people on pecan bread...DO NOT USE

DAIRY. Dark green vegetables are high in calcium.
