Guest guest
Hi all, I haven't posted to the group for a while now. I have found some great products that have helped me maintain my rosacea in remission for about a year to date. First up I need to comment that the largest improvement in my rosacea came after having completed 13+ photoderm sessions. This reduced my rosacea and skin sensitivity by about 95%. Second I went to a psychologist to help me overcome a life long tendency to blush at the slightest embarrassement or uncomfortable situation. Third I increased my filtered water intake, and try to avoid eating too many carbohydrates and sugar. I walk for a hour most days - or go for a bike ride. I find the condition of my skin is definately related to the amount of exercise I get. Fourth I have come to realise that I was obsessive about my skin and that it does not need to be perfect, and never will be! Finally I altered my skin care routine. I have a very simple process these days and do not swap and change products all the time (as I did before in a despirate attempt to rid myself of rosacea). In the morning I wash my face with filtered water using cotton swipes (this helps with any flaking that may be occuring). I allow my face to air dry and then spray it with filtered water (I use Aveeno thermal spray - or if I'm watching pennies just Evian in a spray bottle!). If my skin feels good - not dry I just leave it at that - no mositurisor. If my skin feels a little dry I apply Dermalogical gentle soothing booster to the wet surface of my face. If my skin is very dry I use the booster and follow up with purple emu rich mositurisor. I use Clinique stay true foundation. I do not use sunscreen most days unless I know I will be in the sun then I use Dermalogica extra sensitve sunblock. If I'm at home I spray my face with the water spray throughout the day. In the evening I cleanse/remove make up with Neutrogena sensitive cleanser and cotton wool swipes and filtered water. I moisturise depending on how dry my skin feels. Generally in summer when the heat is up and the humidity as well I just use the water spray. In winter my skin drys a bit and I use the booster and/or purple emu. I also twice a year detox my skin. I simply wear no makeup for btn 3- 7 days and use only the water spray. interestingly the first few days my skin feels tight and dry, it flakes then it really settles down and feels great - makes me wonderabout all these products we use! Most days the above mean that I have very little if any redenss, I do flare from time to time, but it dissappears quickly to a normal skin tone. I hope this helps someone, Tracey
