If the former, that could be the answer. Take care, Fay (13 y.o. son with Crohn's)

Guest guest
Hi Bobbie, > Also, how can I keep my yoghurt (used whole cow milk & dannon's > plain for starter) from becoming so runny after mixing in honey? After fermenting for 24 hours you should refrigerate it for at least 8 hrs to " firm up " before disturbing it. If you find that this is still not as thick as you'd like you can try dripping the yogurt by pouring it into a sieve lined with a coffee filter or a colander lined with a clean dish towel or a few clean cheesecloths (all laid in a bowl to catch the water that you'll toss out). See " SCD yogurt " at http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/beginners_guide/beginners.htm and go to " How to drip yogurt " > I figured out a ratio for our juices - for 100% Welch's grape juice > I mix 1 cup juice to 1/2 cup water and for apple cider I use 1 cup > cider to 2/3 cup water. Does anyone have any better suggestions on > making these juices toddler friendly? Elaine actually recommended that at the beginning of the diet to dilute juices at least half water & half juice. As the gut heals a little less water is okay. Sheila

Guest guest
I usually leave it overnight to sit in the refrigerator and it's a great consistency until I mix in the honey. > Do you mix it as soon as you take it out of the yogurt maker, or do you > refrigerate it for a few hours first? Guest guest
I do this already. > After fermenting for 24 hours you should refrigerate it for at least > 8 hrs to " firm up " before disturbing it. I've also done this and found it still changes to milk quality when I mix in the honey. >If you find that this is > still not as thick as you'd like you can try dripping the yogurt by > pouring it into a sieve lined with a coffee filter or a colander > lined with a clean dish towel or a few clean cheesecloths (all laid > in a bowl to catch the water that you'll toss out). > Thanks for the info on juices. Guest guest
No - I haven't and maybe that's it. i just use the honey straight from the jar. I'll try melting the honey and mixing to see if that helps. Thanks, Bobbie > > Maybe you have to mix it too hard. Have you tried melting the honey > first? Guest guest
I usually keep my yoghurt in the original container - then I add the honey to only a cup at a time (about what we will use in a day). That way, the yoghurt is not disturbed and stays firm. Also, I would only heat the honey slightly.
