Hello,

--I am seeking comment pertaining to rhinophyma, excessive redness and

swelling / growth of nose tissue.

--I have had rosacea for about 10 years. It started with small raised areas

(not pimples) on my nose. One after another has finally increased the size

of my nose by at least 33%. At some time along the way my nose and cheeks

began staying red. Also, the skin pores in my nose continue to enlarge.

--Various triggers do not seem to apply to this nose growth aspect of my

rosaces.

--However, when I become physically stressed, overheated, or am out in the

heat and sun, my face (forehead to neck and ears) becomes alarmingly red.

Anyone around who doesn't know me insist I am ready to have a stroke. The

redness lasts a few days after each experience.

--I can live with the redness on my face. However, my nose is always puffy

(in addition to the apparently permanent enlargement) and very red. This

never goes away and makeup will rarely cover the redness of my nose.

--I have tried different dermatologist, who seem to greatly underestimate my

problem. I guess I am lucky that the shape of my nose is still a regular

shape. Even though greatly enlarged and bright red, they consider this a

good point about my case. I had a smallish nose to begin with, so now I just

appear to have a large red nose. However, I know the difference. This is

not how I look; but it is. And I fear what is yet to come.

--I have been through Cleocin, Sulfacet, Metrogel and Noritate. Various

antibiotics have helped the redness short term. But nothing has been

effective in stopping the nose growth and reducing the puffiness and redness

of my nose.

--I hope someone can lead direction on this aspect of rosacea.

--Thanks, Becca
