Joanne...I'm six months post-op. Water made me nauseous (not uncommon, it

turns out) and so I used my Juiceman to make veggie and fruit juice drinks.

I drank orange juice, V8, Gatorade, etc. I nibbled a saltine or two after

about a week. I don't burp often, but I must say...more than before I had

the MGB! Dee in MI (16 Dec 99)

Joanne, you can nibble a couple saltines, I was served them the

evening of my surgery. (Which I didn't eat) I'm not sure how much

water we should be drinking but I would think as much as possible. i

sip it along or nibble on ice.

You can eat crackers. I don't know that there's any set amount

of water we are " supposed " to drink, but I drink water a lot

just because I'm thirsty a lot, so I have it around most of

the time.

I burp A LOT and also have to pass gas a lot, too. I especially

burp a lot *while* I'm eating.

Joanne,

I had my surgery one week before you. I asked Dr.R how I would know whether

I needed potassium or sodium, he said I was getting plenty of potassium from

the juices and if I felt weak I needed salt. He asked if I had tried any

saltines. I hadn't. I couldn't wait to try it then but was only able to

eat 1 saltine. After just drinking 1 saltine was filling. Yes, I burp a

lot, always after eating and then when I recline it becomes continuous.
