extremely hungry

My son has been extremely hungry and begging for food (basically emotionally

falling apart at every mealtime). He seems to be eating a fair amount of

food so I am pretty sure he is getting enough calories. He is 3 ½ and

average in height and healthy weight. He is on the INTRO…day 2.

Breakfast: 3 chicken/egg pancakes, 2 cups of jello

Snack: 2 chicken/egg pancakes and 1 cup jello

Lunch: 2 hamburger patties and 1 chicken/egg pancake (I offered carrots and

he didn’t want them)

Snack: 3 pancakes

Dinner: 1 ½ cups of chicken soup (w/pureed carrot) and a pancake

He has been extremely oppositional and crying a lot but especially around

meals. He had these episodes (the emotional breakdowns) previously but not

so much around mealtime. I seem to remember this happening in the group a

year ago when we first tried SCD but I couldn’t find anything when I

searched. Is extreme hunger normal at the beginning? Do you think the

emotional breakdowns are part of the die off? I am just really scared that

he is hungry and I don’t want to say no about food (after I give him a

substantial amount..really about 2x the amount of food I normal give

him)…but I also don’t want to continue doing what I am doing for him at

mealtimes and at the mercy of his tantrum begging if it’s behavioral.

Thanks for your help!
