Guest guest
Just thought I would give an update on my steroid induced rosacea. After using a topical steroid (Desowen) for two years to treat my seb/derm I developed rosacea. My first flush/breakout occured last December. My derm prescribed Metrogel along with Nizoral. After one month I saw no improvement. I went to my primary care physician who prescribed Doxycycline. My face started improving. Now, after four months use, I see no signs of rosacea or seb/derm When I discovered that my rosacea was steroid induced I stopped using the Desowen (cold turkey). At first I was a mess....very red face with scaling, bumps, stinging, itching and a lot of edema. Hopefully my skin has repaired itself from the steroid use. I have even began using make-up again (Illuminare with sunscreen). I'm still using the Metrogel and Nizorel. I'm afraid to stop using it yet. I use plain old Dove soap for cleaning with no problems. Perhaps this will offer a bit of encouragement to others with steroid induced rosacea. I only hope this is permanent. Will give a later update. >
