Purple Flares?!

For reasons unknown i'm currently flaring like crazy. Possible causes = weird

photoderm reaction, cutting off minocycline too fast, an autoimmune disease,

having some kind of viral thing (my family hav all had the flu this week, i got

a stuffy nose/sore throat that hasnt turned into anything that appeared rite b4

my face exploded)

Anyway, I cant find out what is causing the problem, but for some reason my

flares are now purple instead of red. Does anyone know if this means anything

significant? Is this possibly a result of the photoderm? (Maybe clearing up

some redness superficially so the blood seen causing the flares is now deeper so

it shows up purple instead of red? or smething weird like that?) Or is it an

indication that I have something other than cea? Anyone else out there ever

had their cheeks turn purple instead of red?

Yes, Adam. When I was in the worst stages of my rosacea, before I got a

" handle " on it with all the advice and actions suggested on this board, I

would flare so badly that my cheeks and chin were literally an angry purple.

I do not know what caused these intense flares.

I used fresh aloe from the plant on my face at those times and it helped me a

lot. I split open the leaf and mash the pulp, then just smeared it on. It

is very soothing and anti-inflammatory. I seem to have moved away from the

bad flares lately. I never found out why I had that particular symptom, but

as I said, it seems to have passed for which I am grateful. I hope the aloe

will help you cope. I still use it when I itch or get puffy during a mild

flare. Jackie
