Guest guest
I did a web search on Alan Shalita, a new york dermatologist, after reading another post by another member and he also uses accutane at the dose of 5mg/d to treat rosacea and pyoderma faciale/rosacea fulminans. Essentially, his theory is that since we're not going to achieve the cure dose of 120mg/kg, there is no sense going over the absolute best anti-inflammatory/immunosupressive dose that accutane has to offer, which is approximately 5mg/d. I concur with this theory. Anyone with rosacea or who is a pre rosacean is pre-denied the convenience of a one time accutane cure dose and must proceed directly to 5mg/d to realize any sort of real benefit. At this dose, there should be no flare up and only improvement will follow. It may seem counterintuitive in the more is more philosophy, especially when this works in so many other areas, however with accutane and rosacea, less is definately more. At the 5mg/d no hairloss should be noted by anyone. Anyone who has tried and failed accutane in the past or experienced side effects would be well advised to try again now at the dose of 10mg qod.
