Roxanne,

You may want to also consider raising money for CF foundations that are

smaller and less visible in the community. CF Foundation is a wonderful

organization, but they do get an extreme amount of money. Most of the money

they raise goes into research, which we need desperately, but with Boomer

Esiason involved they get the exposure like no other CF organization.

There are CF organizations in almost every state of the US that raise money

for CF and for the CF people to help them.

When I get a donation from a family friend or neighbor and they tell me to

contribute it to a good CF cause, I give it to the small groups. You might

want to think of donating it to your local CF hospital to a parent group, or

to a newsletter they produce, or to a CF newsletter, or to a group like

Reaching Out, or Lungs For Life Foundation, they are small and great about

helping the little guy.

I know that some people hold skating partys, some hold dress down days at school

thats where kids if they wear uniforms can pay a dollar or so and wear jeans to

school to raise money, or they can have a hat day for cf, same concept. Others

have had Harley rides for Cf. I have heard about where someone in our community

got together with a local restaurant and on a specific day a percentage of food

and beverage sales all went to CF. The restaurant encouraged the people who

organized the event to send out and pass out letters to people announcing the

event and if they brought in a flyer everything they bought a % was donated to

CF, they raised alot of money. From what I understand you can pretty much do

anything legal to raise money for CF. Good luck

Roxanne,

Contact your local Cf Foundation office. They will take ANY money

you can raise. Tell them what you want to do and make sure you can

put the Cf Foundation name on it..it usually is NOT a problem. We

have had a Jazz/Gourmet Food/Chocolate Truffle event with a silent

auction... a local Lonbergerber basket person just had a longerberger

party and donated her proceeds for the sales...plus the normal walk

stuff. Our little community raised over $50,000 last year.

Good luck!
