Guest guest
asked MEGAN- > Isn't it alot cooler in Canberra? Well, the answer to that is yes, and no! (And there's no need for you lot to roll your eyes at me like my children do!!) Today, it's pleasantly warm (around 28oC), windy, and drizzling for 2 minutes about once an hour. February is our hottest month generally, and will regularly see 36-38oC days. (Just in time for the kids to go back to school) Our winters are glorious - sunny cool days and frosty nights. I'd guess the highest daytime temp would be around 19oC and the lowest night temp would be minus 11oC. That's July/August. So for all those people who recognise this as an advertising piece - come and play with us in Canberra. It's a great place to be. Our water restrictions are lighter that many other places too! We can water our lawns every second day, and gardens every day if using hand held watering devices. We can wash the car as often as we like, as long as we use a bucket of water and not a hose. BTW, anyone on the list from Switzerland? Looks like we're going to Geneva around Christmas 2004! Have a great New Year's Eve folks. I'm the designated driver tonight, so I've got to enjoy it with only one glass of champagne...... Much love - Mum to Cate 10yrs wocf and Sian 6yrs wcf, asthma, GERD and ADD? Guest guest
And how is everyone's New Year progressing? It rained here for almost 24 hours (on and off) which was just wonderful! Hardly drought breaking, but still great. > , Let me know if you can't anyone from Switzeland > - I have some friends on the dutch/belgium cf list so > they might know someone. Why did you decide to go > there... and so much in advance! I can't even say what > I'm doing in 2 weeks (after my graduation)... One of my best friends is being posted to Geneva this year, and she's taking her husband and children with her. She told me that I could send my girls over as unaccompanied minors for a holiday. I told her in no uncertain terms that my girls weren't going to Europe without me when I have never been! So, it's four weeks in Europe for us in late 2004. How we are going to manage to pay for it I have no idea, but I will find a way...... But you graduate in two weeks! How cool! I can see why you don't know what to do next. I'm looking at enrolling at uni this year for my post-grad diploma. Decisions, decisions. > > BTW just a quick question- I'm curious how do you find > the CF centers in Canberra and SA? Any activities, > seminars, etc? Just to compare with the local one in Melbourne.. The CF centre at the hospital here I have absolutely nothing to do with. I went to them once, just after Sian was diagnosed, and even with her stripped naked on the examination table they couldn't get her gender right when they spoke to me. So I decided they were a waste of space. Having just taken over as President of the local CF Association, I am open to suggestions for what we should be doing. At the moment, children wcf get birthday presents, this year they got a Christmas present. Adults wcf get a free one month gym membership, plus a birthday present. Everyone gets free ABDEK vitamins. There are vouchers for support of families during hospitalisations. Mind you, at this rate, the money in the bank will be gone by the end of next year...... Our middle child that does not have CF broke her hand. I swear there is never a dull moment at our house. I hope everyone else's New Year started out better then ours did.
