I use coconut flour instead of nut flour and it seems to work out just fine. a > > I am new to this group, and I will admit that I have not yet invested > in the book. I posted this morning that there are 152 comments about the diet on Amazon.com and Grammy Bauer has posted addituional just now. Trying the diet is worthwhile because if after a month you are not satisfied, you don't need to continue. To be successful you will want to understand the diet. A good deal of information is on the websites suggested at joining. The book is available in libraries if you are not ready to " invest " . People who spent $60,000 in one year on ABA didn't mind another $25.00 for the book. Healing doesn't just happen. As ytou observed, It takes time and the money for the right food. GFCF may not have been effective because it contains starches and sugars not allowed on SCD. Your decison to commit has to be your own. Avail yourself of the archives of this group to help you decide. If I don't sound sufficiently convincing it's because people come here based on running out of other options or hearing some wonderful things or both. i hope to have the opportunity to officially say, " Welcome. Guest guest
I was hesitant at first because of how difficult it seemed to be or at least a HUGE change in the types of foods we were giving our son. I looked at all the success stories and they really spoke to me. The most incredible thing that I noticed right away was how obvious it was that he needed it after we started. It can feel like it's difficult to stick with but after a few weeks, many of the difficulties of just starting fade. It really helps to be part of this group to know that others are going through the same thing as your child (and you as a parent). Give it a month and do it as www.pecanbread.com http://www.pecanbread.com/> suggests (check out food preparation on that site). Try not to focus on legal foods that are harder to digest and really focus on pinpointing what is bothering your child and making sure the foods you give are easy to digest. It is very important that you make every effort to go slowly. I personally think that at least at the beginning just succumb to making everything from scratch. It eliminates the worry of contamination or allowing something that is hindering the progress.
