Guest guest
<< lease forgive me if I have asked a similar question to this before but I know many of us can't use ANYTHING on our faces. I wondered though if anyone gets severe scaling if they use any kind of topical no matter what it is? I know many rosaceans get severe burning (which I do too) but as I mentionned I also get this scale. At the same time if I use nothing but water on my face I also get a similar looking scale. I wonder if this is a separate problem to rosacea or it is just another symptom. Any info would be gretly appreciated.>> i get the flaking -- i put metrocream on because of the pustules and wham-o my face started coming off in sheets so then i had pustules as well as raw weeping skin. nice, eh? i found that johnson and johnson clean and clear moisturizer is the only thing that doesn't exacerbate my rosacea not that it really moisturizes enough but i'm sure it would burn most rosaceans because i've actually got oily skin. so yeah, i'm kind of in the same boat as you stacey

Guest guest
Hi I really need ot reply of this since what you have described has been driving me to distraction and bankruptcy for the last 13 years since I heard that horrible word " rosacea " My face can be like an oil slick ( with no makeup ) and as soon as I splash it with some water, I have this flaky residue. No moisturizer in this world calms it. Nothing it seems can get rid of it. Believe me I have tried. Trying to put on some foundation to cover the rosacea is near impossible. You can't win with this condition. Do you think that the flaky reside/stuff is from an irritated state which rosacea skins always seem to be in. Do you think that one of the topicals would help with calming down the irritation, like an anti-inflammatory. I have tried buffering with vita-oil but vita-oil makes the flakes 100 times worse. Just looking for some suggestions or even a biy of sympathy. I'll take support in whatever form you choose to offer it. Take care all we want a cure! we want a cure! Guest guest
The only thing I can offer, is I have these skin flakes on my cheeks.. They look almost more like scales than flakes.. (little round skin circles that come together in a patch). Nothing gets rid of them. When I saw my dermatologist the other day, he told me it looked like some medicine was sticking to my face. He said sometimes when you use alot of topicals for an extended period of time some of it gets stuck, and then these patches form. Personally I have yet to try cutting back on the medicine (maybe using it only every other day for a little while) because the flakes are not as much of a concern to me as the redness/flushing etc Adam Re: flakey skin cometics > > > > << > Just looking for some suggestions or even a biy of sympathy. Guest guest
Recently I had a nasty R flare-up and it left my skin really dry. I have dry skin anyway, but this was something I couldn't get a handle on. I live in the S.F. Bay Area and we have a wonderful local chain called Body Time. They recommended shea-butter (sp?), which can be found at most health food stores and QVC sells it as well. It did the trick, however, it did cause some red as it's very thick and you have to work in into you skin. I also use this great cleanser/mask that has kept my skin moisturized. It's called Antiox-Hydrating Mask & Facial Cleanser and I got it at Body Time. They have a website - http://store.yahoo.com/berkeley/ You can order online or request a catalogue. You can also ask questions via e-mail. I highly recommend their products. (they don't test on animals!) Oh, and their Moisturizing Body Spray is great too. For those of you who live in the area, BT gives samples if you ask. I asked for samples of everything I've mentioned and they were quite generous.
