Guest guest
He hasn't ever been too fond of pears (raw) and hasn't like sauce all that much but I would like to give it a try (and it's low phenol). I made a batch of chicken pancakes with pears as a starter (for tomorrow). I am not sure how well he tolerated it because he has always had such a variety of foods, it was hard to pinpoint what was causing what. He is eating: egg yolks, chicken, turkey, hamburger, carrot (pureed in soup), chicken soup, jello (welches white grape). ........... Guest guest
Summer, I have thought of doing that but I think I remember reading that it should only be done for a maximum of 5 days and that is with Diarrhea. He has mushy sorta formed poops of good color that didn't change with the intro. The thing that REALLY worries me is that he has little to no carbs. The only carbs he is getting is the jello and soup broth (pureed carrot).and that is about once a day. He doesn't drink juice (only water). ........... Guest guest
I don't know what SCD's official position is on this, my books are all out on loan, but I have always been a big fan of elimination diet techniques. The way I do it, and recommend it (this may not be appropriate for you, I am just putting it out there) is to stay on intro, with bone marrow broths as long as possible, preferably at least a week, then introduce one food, two max with 3 days space between, a week. I just want to reiterate this is a basic elimination technique, especially for those delayed reactions from specific types of gut bugs. It gives time to really get a feel for what food is causing what problem, from poops to red eyes, to increased urination, tantrums, eye rolling, slurring, sensory problems, tics, etc. This may not be appropriate if you feel this will not be healthy or helpful. I'm just whirling it out there in pecan cyberspace. lol You are right, though, adding in some carbs may help him feel better. Guest guest
So I am wondering, is this sort reaction " normal " on the diet? Or do most children start to show positive signs during the intro? I had always thought that it could be up to 2 weeks before they started to feel better. Two weeks would see like an awful long time without sufficient carbohydrates (??). Well maybe I will add pears but *only* pears this week. The last time we did this (intro and stared SCD), he had a really rough 8 days but then it got considerably better.we only did the intro 2 days that time. Unless someone thinks there is a better food to try? I just thought that pears would be the easiest for him considering he goes a little nutso on bananas. ...........
I just thought that pears would be the easiest for him considering he goes a little nutso on bananas. ........... He has mushy sorta formed poops of good color that didn't change with the intro. The thing that REALLY worries me is that he has little to no carbs. The only carbs he is getting is the jello and soup broth (pureed carrot).and that is about once a day. He doesn't drink juice (only water). .......... I made a batch of chicken pancakes with pears as a starter (for tomorrow). I am not sure how well he tolerated it because he has always had such a variety of foods, it was hard to pinpoint what was causing what. He is eating: egg yolks, chicken, turkey, hamburger, carrot (pureed in soup), chicken soup, jello (welches white grape). .........
