Guest guest
Dear Kim, Please rethink your decision, read the book, and read the website throughly. For those of us whom have older children, we wish we'd have known about SCD when they were in utero. It is a superior diet to the GFCFSF, avoidance, rotation way. More brain development happens between birth and age 3 than any other 3 year period; don't miss this crucial window. Your baby can have calcium supplementation on SCD. The intro diet only lasts 2-5 days. After that you can add more food. www.digestivewellness.com has tasty products and equipment to help you from intro to later stages. You don't want to regret not giving this healthy wasy of eating a good 3-4 month try. The moderators will help you. I want to ensure my family is going to get enough calcium. How much calcium do you supplement your baby? What brand do you use? Thanks, Kim Starting Diet, looking for Nutritionist Hi, I must admit that after reading messages over the last week, I'm quite daunted by the amount of knowledge required to conduct this diet properly! I do feel that I cannot proceed with starting the diet on our baby, before consulting with a Nutritionist who specializes in this diet. However, I have come up BLANK in my search for one of these persons in our town! Any suggestions!? Thanks so much, ______________________ V. Guest guest
Kim, I could not agree with and Jenni Lynn more. This is a very important window of opportunity. My son is 3 and I wish for him we had started earlier! My daughter was 20 months when we started the SCD in addition to CF and she is growing and thriving and healthier than ever! She gets 500mgs of calcium in her juice everyday (Kirkman's powder) and she likes broccoli which is a plus. And you do have to be an SCD expert to do the diet perfectly. But starting the diet as best as you know it today and becoming an expert along the way is OK. I think the large majority of us found out a month or two into the diet that the juice, or spice, or sauce we were using was not legal and we fix it. I have a friend with Crohn's that wants to do SCD but she has spent the last 4 months studying, going to nutritionists and stocking up her fridge and freezer meanwhile still eating how she always has. She is spending the time preparing rather than healing. You can take it slow and first change to only SCD breakfasts, following week add snacks, or however and your son will be better of for that meal. Of course for healing you need to be 100% SCD but it is less overwhelming when approached that way. I can give you a nutritionist in CT if you would like that knows SCD. A lot of us use fitday.com to calorie count and track carb, protein, and fat intake. It was very helpful to us once you figure out what you child requires by his age and weight. We have all felt overwhelmed and we are all here to help. Take care, mom to Elijah 3, ASD (loosing the label), leaky-gut, failure to thrive a 2, had a very successful SCD b-day party today. I will post the cake recipe soon. davis brandijacksondavis@...> wrote: For those of us whom have older children, we wish we'd have known about SCD when they were in utero.
