Guest guest
Elaine did not like Miralax. Even the literature from the company says that it is for acute cases and shouldn't be used long term (more than two weeks). Have you tried the constipation remedies from Elaine's website? http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info Jody mom to -7 and -9 SCD 1/

On one occasion he seemed to have some cramping after the prune juice, but it didn't actually result in him pooping. I'm not sure we've been on the diet long enough for it to really help (just since Monday, we weren't willing to wait a week to try the remedy, or even go without medication). He's also been on about 28 g of miralax a day (normal max dose is 17 g) for about a year now--with some ups and downs in dosage. He used to require a second medication as well, so he's actually improved. My son basically only poops without pain if it's an almost liquidy consistency. He doesn't get really hard poop, even before medication, it's more like it got pasty, but he was in tremendous pain and was quite backed up. He definitely has a stretched out rectum and that's a big part of the issue. He says that his stomach hurts all the time, every day, it just hurts at some times more than others. He's definitely getting backed up now. I do hope to get him off miralax, and I'm not crazy about it either. But I do want to know if taking it while on the diet will keep the diet from working (since it would be silly to do both at once, I guess, if that's the case). For things like mag. citrate, in order for it to work, he has to take so much that it makes him puke, and I'm reluctant to go there again Thanks for your help, Sherri
