Guest guest
I have had numerous centerlines in. If done correctly it takes about 5 minutes and they can give you something to relax if you ask before hand. All you feel is pressure... You CAN have blood drawn from a centerline... they usually use one coded color for blood draws. I agree.... the meds going into acenterline are more easily taken and you don't feel burning or stinging/ sometimes you can feel it cool.... a cool feeling. I recommend it.. I have also had PICC line.. I have tiny veins like a child..... so putting the picc in took more time... that's all. I always tell them they need a peds butterfly for an IV as my veins roll and collapse easily. They can do a nerve block by an anithesiologist before an IV if you request. If i get an IV in a matter of hours....my vein collapses because of the strong meds.... especially demoral and phenegran..... the nurses know these drugs will collapse the veins.... and yet they still do it... I always tell them.... please don't.... I, too have been stuck as many as 14 times with 14 blown.. It's rediculous... Good luck with the little ones... I would have my children have the centerline or PICC.. also....... much easier and no pain. We can all use a little relief every now and then..... jan
