Mark,

I realize you sent this a long time ago, but I have visited several of the

sites mentioned in your email. They are excellent. I have linked them to the

PAI, or will :-).

To tell others a little about Dr. Hayden and the site:

>>>> Melvin R. (Pete) Hayden, MD is an Adjunct Assistant Professor Department

of Family and Community Medicine University of Missouri Columbia, Missouri,

USA .

The term amyloid diabetes is analogous to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

This is a personal web site to honor the presence of amyloid in the

pancreatic islets.

Amylin derived amyloid is scar tissue that results in a diffusion barrier

which results in a secretory and an absorptive defect to insulin.  The term “

islet fibrosis†certainly applies to this malady.  The presence of amyloid

within islets of the pancreas may be the unintentional best kept secret in

modern medicine. <<<<

I am planning to invite Dr. (Pete) Hayden to speak at the 2003 Symposium. He

is very brilliant, and ever so nice. I posted several comments and questions

to his Diabetic Research board and received such quick responses.

It was a delight to see how thrilled he was with the relationship he has with

both yourself, as well as Tony. You both offer so much to the PAI and play an

important role in taking it to the standard of excellence we want to achieve.

Karyn,

when it comes to inviting people to come and speak at the meeting next year

I think that we should also try and get Dr. Sutherland to come and speak

about his research and the things that he has come up with,

Also another good person that would benefit us is his wife she developed a

computer program where all she needs to do is type in the information on a

donated Pancrease and kindey and the computer program will give her an exact

match for that organ.

I can tell u this Dr. Sutherland gave me a new Lease on life. I truly

believe with out this surgery. I would not have made it Physically fornext

couple of years. I would say that I would not see the age of thirty-Three and

I'm twenty-nine getting ready to turn thirty in three months.

Well If anyone wants information from me about my expeirence please feel

free to write me personally: D87@... ....

Karyn I truly think that this could be one of the first steps in

correcting such a horrific problem.....

Hi Mark: I was wondering if you have heard of coral

calcium . My husband Jim has CP and saw an infomercial

on TV --- It sounds wonderful and I wonder if you knew

anything about it. Thanks June " Mark E. Armstrong "
