Guest guest
Ok, So much great info here, I love it. I too have always thought my " cea " symptoms were hormomally triggered. I mean I would be red and stuff all the time, but my major breakouts seem to definitely follow a monthly pattern. I am using the cea LTD products currently. Having pretty good luck. Been doing it for about 6 weeks. My redness has really improved. So has the tenderness and inflamation. I still am having breakouts. Mine are like the poster described earlier, they weep stuff that sometimes actually drip off my face. Mine are not like any pimple I have ever seen or had. They start as kindof a red raises bump that itches. Then inevitively I scratch it at some point and it breaks. Its like the head is all full of water or something. This forms an open sore that continally oozes. It is impossible to cover with anything. It runs down my face like at night and I wake with big crusted places on my face. It does not seem oily though.Sometimes the sores swell to enormous size and really get inflammed looking. My derm has in the past had me come in and injected something in to them to make them heal faster. I assume it is some form of cortisone. I did that a few times and didnt really see any faster results, but they are really painful. So far though the LTD has kept them at bay, i do have to use it every day or I notice things getting bad again. So for now I have small sores all over my face but they do heal much faster now. I also hate it when they start to heal because they flake up really bad around them. I cannot get that to stop. My derm suggested a bar soap that I believe is called Zinc, it looks like a solid form of head and shoulders. It does help a little, but burns slightly when I am sensitive. So my main problem is the sores. I can cover the redness and veins, but I feel like a leper as a previous poster said. I cannot believe how many times I have said that. My derm had gotten to the point where he didnt have any more options and was recommending a chemical peel. I said no way. That just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. So I have went out on my own for treatment. The Noritate didnt seem to help much. Derm said I was too mild a case for the Accutane, I disagree. But who knows. I just want to not have sores all the time. Another question I have is about make up. I have a sample of the Sy concealing powder and like it. It seems a bit dark still on me and sometimes since I am drier in the winter it like cakes and seems to settle in the wrinkles and exagerate the flakes. Has anyone tried any of the other non talc foundation powders out there? How do they compare to the Sy ones? I really need good coverage. The Sy powder does seem to not break me out more like most foundations I have tried that are drug store brands. Thanks for letting me vent and I hope you all can suggest a good base and maybe even some help for my sores. Keep hanging in there you all! Guest guest
OK, Lora. You're describing exactly how I break out -- the sore, itchy bumps, the clear liquid in them, the red patches that take (literally) months to go away, the the peeling and flaking that follows, too. I found that my breakouts were tied to a wheat/gluten allergy (or intolerance, I don't know because I haven't been biopsied). The allergy either caused my rosacea, or I was mis-diagnosed (but since rosacea hasn't yet been pinned with a cause, you can take your pick). I follow a diet with no wheat and no gluten at all. This has kept my skin almost entirely clear for a year now. I also avoid any skin and hair product that has wheat in any form (I'd be glad to send you the list). The blister-topped bumps are your clue. I think the monthly cycle tin-in is because you shift your eating habits monthly (what woman doesn't?). Do you also breakout on your scalp and on your hairline? What about other spots, like your rear (if you'll forgive me asking) or the backs of your legs? Do you get itchy blisters on other parts of your body? How about cancer sores in your mouth? Cracks at the corners of your lips? GI and/or bowel complaints? If you go to celiac.com you'll find information on dermatitis herpetaformis. It would be great for you to read it, as well as the other information on celiac. DH is a type of skin rash exclusively tied to gluten intolerance. Unfortunately, DH on the face doesn't seem to be well-documented in the literature or available pictures... but it happens with some frequency. Derms just don't seem to recognize it. If it's not DH, it sounds like you're definitely allergic to something else. I get some relief from Claritin... and being scrupulous about my diet and any and all topical products (even toothpaste and laundry soap, etc.) Good luck, Suzi __________________________________________________
