Guest guest
Suzanne, You're going to have to provide us with a list of what he CAN eat. There's not really any way that we can make suitable recommendations without knowing what IS okay to feed him. What is he actually (IgE) allergic to? Our SCD restricts only certain types of carbs but not the quantity. if yast is a concern there are anti- fungals and you can just be moderate with fuit and honey and later with dried fruit but should not have to exclude them. Guest guest
Jody, The list of things he's IgE allergic to is too long to write. It's easier to list the things we know he tolerates. Many of his allergies are old, but we stopped challenging them because even if he tolerates them for a little while he often develops reactions all over again. So while we do give him small amounts of low-allergen foods, we do it in a heavy rotation (no more than 2 days on/5 days off). This list is for IgE allergies only. I've omitted the disaccharide foods that he tolerates, such as quinoa and millet. MEATS: Ostrich lamb buffalo grass-fed beef, small amounts VEGETABLES: spinach cabbage brussel sprout cucumber asparagus zucchini broccoli (slight allergy) squash and pumpkin (slight allergy) onion celeriac beets rutabagas turnips FRUITS: cranberry lemon (slight allergy) papaya (slight allergy) apple (slight allergy) pear (old allergy) grape (old allergy) blueberry (never tested or introduced til recently) I'm willing to try apple and pear on a rotated basis for the first few days of the SCD intro diet. Otherwise, there's nothing except spinach, zucchini and meat I can give him on the intro diet. But how will I know if his gut tolerates them? Up to now, we've only worried about his IgE reactions, which are usually limited to eczema. How will I know if they're okay for his gut? What signs should I look for to know if they're okay?
