Guest guest
Too difficult to get him to cooperate? That doc ought to come to my house...sheesh...at least you can bribe a 6-year-old. Mine is 2.5 years, and absolutely HATES therapy...but we do it. (Every session: " No, move your hands out of the way....no, move your hands out of the way...no... " " Sweetheart, do you want to roll and look at Mommy or Daddy? You HAVE to roll one way or the other...yes, you do. " " Dumpling, you have to stay on your side..[reposition kid]..can't roll over in the middle of a side..[reposition kid again]..I mean it...no, get back on your side so Mommy can finish..[get her back in place yet again]..I know you want Daddy to bop...he's doing your other side after we're done with this one..[pick her up, and turn her onto her side once again]..no, don't roll over yet, only 2 more minutes to go on this side. " " Sweetie, we ARE helping you. " - this one in response to her saying " Help me Mommy! " And various other stuff.) Geesh...cooperation isn't the point (it would be nice, but oh well). Whether or not that kid cooperates has no bearing on whether or not he needs CPT. My daughter, btw, is also double deltaF508. Hasn't had a lot of lung involvement, but her docs are playing it safe and treating her lungs preventively. Shanna mom of Triana, age 2 wcf Re: wondering about doc after clinic visit Sounds like my child's doctor. I get the feeling that he would rather that I stay uneducated about cf and leave everything up to him. If that was case, my daughter would still not be on Pulmozyme or use the Vest therapy. We, as parents, are very concerned anout our children's future. We therefore put forth the time and energy in the cf research. I feel some doctors are so busy with patients, etc. they don't have the time to read up on current studies. My doctor also looks at me like he doesn't know what I am talking about and then he dismisses my question. We are seriously thinking of switching doctors. I just don't know where to begin. My nephew with cf also uses this same doctor. He is six years old with two delta 508 genes and still is not doing any chest physical therapy. The doctor said that it would be too difficult to get him to cooperate. When does a child decide what treatment they should receive??? I was also told that they clean each room after each patient, but I don't think it is true.
