Guest guest
Deb. Yes has cultured pseudomonas in her sinuses. But the worst thing she cultured up there was probably aspergillus, her doc called it Allergic Fungal Sinusitis, It's pretty hard to get rid of,and she did also have it in her lungs. The docs put her on prednisone and Sporonox for about 6 months. She has needed IV antibiotics for the pseudo in her sinuses because it was resistant to cipro. I hope this helps, love,
Guest guest
Deb, I have no Idea why I wrote Soprano I meant Sporonox. HMM Maybe I've been watching too much TV. Oh and her psuedo is resistant to CIPRO not Capri (huh? where did that come from--I am losing my mind again!!) had that sinus surgery called ESSAL when she was 13. That's where they do endoscopic surgery and put catheters up in the sinuses, hanging out of the person's nose (they tape the ends to their face). Then every day 2 or 3 times a day (can't remember) the nurse uses a syringe to wash out the sinuses with Tobra or whatever antibiotic she is sensitive to) and saline. This went on for ten days and stayed in the hospital. Her choice because she really didn't want me messing with those catheters. I have read that after this the patient is to have monthly tobra washes in the ENT's office but we never did that part. What I really think has helped from having surgery so often is the tobi, and the rhinocort nasal inhaler. She has been ordered to use saline and nosesprays but she was never good about doing them, she didn't like the feeling. I used to do sinus washes with the waterpik but tried that once and she hated it. It made her feel like she was drowning. The Rhinocort is different as its like an inhaler. Well I hope this helps, love, Mom of Nick age 20 nocf and age 18 wcf
