The Atkins diet is NOT a safe diet. Yes, you will lose weight - lean

muscle mass and water. The diet puts the body into ketoacidosis,

which is not a healthy state to be in - just ask any diabetic. Dr.

Ornish's diet is NOT for weight loss, it is designed to lower blood

cholesterol levels and reduce (and in some cases reverse)

atherosclerosis (hardening of the coronary arteries), weight loss IS

a wonderfful side-effect of the Ornish Diet. Atkins is about GETTING

SKINNY. (believe me I know, I followed the Atkins diet SO WELL it put

me in the ER) Ornish is about SAVING YOUR LIFE. you can't compare

apples to oranges. Just my Humble opinion and about .04 cents worth.

> Hi Group - as you know, Dr. R. suggests we follow the Ornish Diet

plan after MGB. Well, someone sent me the following transcript of

the show " Crossfire " which hosted Dean Ornish and Atkins

fighting it out over which of their diet plans is the

healthiest....warning - it's very long! (But interesting, and worth

the read!)

,

Thanks so much for including these diets in your post. I was wondering

what the difference in them was.

If you see someone without a smile,

Give them one of yours.

If you and I should meet and

you forget me, you have lost nothing.

If you meet JESUS and you forget him,

you will have lost everything.
