Hi all.

I'm new here but I'm glad to have found the group.

I have had rosacea for about 1-2 years now. At first I thought it was an

allergy. I was trying a new moisturizer and I broke out terribly. I was 28

or 29. I never had any skin problems as a teenager. I did a test and

stopped using the new product. My skin would get better / worse. I was

using Almay cleansers and toner and Oil of Olay as a moisturizer but my

skin got really bad, especially around the cheeks. I was desperate, so I

shelled out the money to see a dermatologist. He diagnosed Acne Vulgaris

and gave me Sodium Sulfacetamide and Sulfur lotion and Cleocin T. It didn't

seem to help at first and the Sulfur lotion made me look orange. The doctor

told me not to wear any makeup, so I was really self conscious. Then I

noticed the lotion was stopping the inflammation. I used it until I ran

out. It's very expensive. I still have some Cleocin T that I use sometimes

at night. A co-worker who was a nurse told me I could wear oil-free makeup

over the medication. She was familiar with the doctor and said he was very

anti-makeup.

Then I bought the Proactive product sold on TV. The cleanser is rough on my

face so I don't use it as I can't use anything with a " scrubber " in it.

Since using it I don't have as many papule breakouts or inflammation but my

face is still red. Right now I mostly use the " repairing lotion " they have.

Right now I am using 2 products the doctor recommended. I am using Cetaphil

to wash my face and Eucerin lotion / sunscreen as a moisturizer. I am

wearing makeup again. I am using Covergirl Oil Free makeup, the pancake

type that's the liquid / powder combination. I plan to buy some Dermablend

soon. I got the sample pack and wore it to work and was told that I looked

really good that day. It covered the red completely!

Right now I'm at a " frustrated but can live with it " stage. One day I hope

to not have any more red in my face at all. My husband is very supportive

of me and is willing to help me find a solution to this problem once and

for all.
