Guest guest
I just wrote to 007: " You're assuming the reason people fail initial treatment is because acne vulgaris is not being diagnosed and so remains untreated. To prevent that (unproven) assertion, you advocate exposing everyone to some statistical analysis. Doesn't make sense to me, because a competent dermatologist will diagnose the presence of only rosacea, or both rosacea and acne vulgaris, by just looking at the patient's face. " I'd like to add one comment: when there is an unsatisfactory response to initial therapy the dermatologist will modify treatment, and one of the things s/he will consider is a co-existing dermatologic condition, whether newly acquired or unmasked by the improving original condition. An analogy is pool (billiards): It sounds like you want to hit all the balls into their respective pockets off the break shot (the opening shot, when the fifteen balls in triangle configuration are struck by the white ball). That's fantasy pool. In reality, the most likely and safest winning strategy is to use the break shot to set the table up for all subsequent shots, which are then pocketed one by one.
