Guest guest
This happens because kids and adults were and are not correctly or accurately diagnosed. " Consumption " was the old word for tuberculosis. Also, this happens because cystic fibrosis is an auto somal recessive disorder requiring two carriers to produce a child with cf; yet, they can produce many carriers who produce many carriers byt marrying oir mating with carriers, and son on. The odds for two carriers are, with EACH PREGNANCY: two carriers, one with cf and one who is neither. The odds for two carriers are, WITH EACH PREGNANCY (as the mitochondria influence this) with the MOTHER CARRIER HAVING CF: all children will be carriers, and one in two will have cf--these are just odds. Thus we have carriers all over the place and undiagnosed cystic fibrosis patients all over, so it APPEARS that it does not run in both families whereas in fact it must be present in each parent who got the carrier state from their parents, etc. Clear as sputum? You bet!!!! The web sites on this are so technical that I did not pass them on, thus sparing you all a Christmas Eve gift! Love to all at cfparents, n Rojas
