Debbie, It took my daughter and I just about three days for an approval for

Tricare standard. The only reason it took 3 days is because they made us both

have a psych eval before they gave us a decision. I live in Ct. and they

approved us to go to North Carolina to see Dr. Rutledge and to have our

surgery. I did have the fax number but I don't have it now. Call up Tricare

on Monday and they will be glad to give it to you. Good Luck. The Tricare

nurse who helped us get approval was wonderful so much that I sent her

flowers. Liz

Hi, I have some questions about Tricare if anyone has any info I sure

would appreciate it.

1) Do they have a fax number

2) How long did it take to get anything back on it.

3) I live in Memphis do you think they might approve it even though

it is out of state.

Also can I send in the patient online info without all the rest of

the packet.

I love reading everything you all have been writing, hopfully soon

maybe I can actually meet some of you to. I could use a couple more

contacts to.

God Bless,

Debbie S.

Hi Dee,

Do not let this get you down! She is in such bad shape now that the most

important thing at this point seems to be WLS, and if it is the RNY, then

that's the best thing for her! Do not beat yourself up over this. You have

done a great job pursing WLS and an answer to her problem. No one could ask

any more of a mother! I wish her the best and please keeps us posted!

Dear Debbie,

Our experiance with Tricare is that there is a BIG difference

between Prime and Standard. We are in land, that's Leonardtown

Flo, and Prime will not approve for us to go out of region. However,

did figure out that if you dis-enroll from Prime and go Standard they

will approve going to see Dr. Rutledge. If you go Standard you cannot

re-enroll Prime for 1 year. $$$ wise this means that you have a $150

deductible and pay 20%, but only $25 for inpatient (MGB surgery). You

can still have all your labs done at your military facility and just

need to find a civilian Dr for a year. Spoke to a friend who has a

20%

co-pay and said that she usually pays $10 for a Dr. visit. Heck, my

co-pay is $12 with Prime.

Unfortunately, by the time I figured out how to be able to

receive

the benefits that we are intitled to my daughter, Karlie, no longer

qualifies to see Dr. R. In January when we started our fight She

weighed 380lbs. We felt that having her lose 30lbs was not

unreasonable. Since then she has been hospitalize twice for asthma

and

pneumonia, given tons more steroids and now is at 427lbs. That is

over

70lbs she would have to lose. If she could lose 70lbs she wouldn't

need WLS. So, much to my distress she is going to have an open RNY,

we

Best Wishes, Dee Trudell

Hi Dee,

Dr.R's weight limit is 400lbs now, not 350. Don't lose hope!!!!!!! Give

the Atkins diet a shot.....lot's of post-ops had to lose some to qualify and

they did it with Atkins.

She only needs to lose 27 lbs not 77...... Hang in there things will turn out

the way they should.

Best Wishes,

Genz
