I glad to hear that your starting to feel a little better. Just remember that

Nov 1st. isn't that far away and you will probably get the answer that you want

to hear. I know when you are wearing to hear an answer to weather or not you

can have surgery, especially when you seem it will help, takes a lifetime to

hear the right answer. Just remember tomorrow your one day closer to getting an

answer. It seem that your new doctor is on the ball and surely he can come up

with a solution to keep you out of the hospital so much. Just lay it on the

line for him and let him know your can take much more of this, that it wearing

you out. If he doesn't have the right answer, than ask him who he can refer you

to give you the help that you deserve. Keep you chin up, brighter day will be

ahead for you. I feel it in the weary old bones of mine. I the meantime I'll

keep you in my prayers.

Well, I had my long awaited appointment with the biliary surgeon at UAB today.

He was indeed a very nice man, but it seems I am on hold a bit longer. He was

not happy with the quality of the ct scans from my small local hospital, so he

wants to repeat the CT. He talked with my GI on the phone while I was there.

The GI told him that there is some stricture at the cystic duct at the point

where they removed my gallbladder. The surgeon wants to see the ERCP films so

he can see if he thinks there's enough of stricture to be causing my problems.

The surgeon said if any one of the ducts is causing the problems that it is very

correctable with surgery and that once corrected, you normally have no more

problems. However, he said if the problem is actually adhesions that even

though they can be removed surgically, you run the risk of causing more

adhesions in the future. I heard the surgeon say to my GI that there is

obviously some liver damage going on as I've had 3 separate incidents where the

liver enzymes were dangerously elevated.

So, anyway, the plan is that the surgeon will get the ERCP films from my GI

and review them. I will have a ct scan at UAB on Nov 1st and then see the

surgeon that afternoon. I'm just scared that if the surgeon feels that

adhesions are the problem, he's going to tell me there is nothing he can do. I

have not gone longer than two weeks without being in the hospital since this

began in mid July. I really just don't see how I can go on like this for much

longer. Right now it seems that pancreas has not sustained permanent damage,

but I would think it is only a matter of time if I keep having these attacks.

Although, out of the eight times I've been in the hospital since July, the

pancreas enzymes have only been elevated 3 times. the liver enzymes have been

elevated every time, but only dangerously elevated 3 times. Coincidentally,

only one of the three times the liver enzymes were dangerously elevated was when

the panc enzymes were also elevated.

I just got out of the hospital Saturday and I have been doing better. Not

great, but better. More than anything right now I'm scared and want some

answers as to why this keeps happening!

Louie,

Thanks again. I managed to make it to work today. I had to leave a little

early cause I had an appt for an eye exam. I'm not doing that great right now

but the pain hasn't gotten bad enough to go to the ER.

Hope this finds you doing well.
