Guest guest
Sorry to disagree with Belinda, but we do have Chipmunks in Texas, Specifically the Grey-footed Chipmunk (Tamias canipes, V. ). They occur only in Texas in the Sierra Diablo and Guadalupe Mountains in the Trans-Pecos (mainly Culberson County). I've attached a photo if you are ever out west and need to identify the little guys. Guest guest
Fortunately Torey, Liz Cartwright has already posted an excellent picture of what appears to be a cohort of young chipmunks engaged in some form of communication, although they do not appear to be tamias canipes. In my neck of the woods (Iowa and Midwest) we call them ground squirrels, the 13 stripe ground squirrel being very common. So, as appears to be the case, the term will also vary depending on the sending region of Mexico. -----Original Message-----From: Torey Nalbone [mailto:torey.nalbone@...]Sent: Monday, March 17, 2003 2:02 PM Subject: Re: [ ] FW: chipmunk Sorry to disagree with Belinda, but we do have Chipmunks in Texas, Specifically the Grey-footed Chipmunk (Tamias canipes, V. ). Guest guest
I, for one, am totally enjoying this chipmunk discussion. Who would have thought that it was such an entertaining topic? Narda, Oregon
