Guest guest
Hi, stomach problems were my single biggest problem prior to surgery. In fact, so much so that my pcp is a gastroenterologist and has been for 15 years. The only way I had any quality of life at all was using Prilosec which my Dr. had me on during the clinical trials before it was even FDA approved. Most days I was fine as long as I took one Prilosec every morning. If I didn't, I was miserable all day. I have had no trouble since surgery but we are on Prevacid..a cousin to Prilosec and Dr. R doubled my dose of Prevacid after 24 hours of burning tummy. This surgery does not claim to end tummy troubles though...so I expect that it's not over for me in this arena. I'm nearly two weeks post op and I do not use anything with acid..tomatoes, orange juice, lemonade, etc. I even had to stop having " tropical " fruit pops because of the acid. The diarreah is help a huge amount by taking Citrucel every day. This provides the " bulk " and absorbs some of the water. She might want to try it now..can't harm and may help. The over the counter Pepcid is a fraction of a prescription dose..she might want to take more or go get script for Prilosec, Prevacid or one of the other acid prescription medications available. Flo in land diarrhea >Hi all. Just me with some more insane questions. I have a friend >who >is considering the MGB. She takes over the counter Pepcid once a day >and has diarrhea almost every day now. Will this surgery make her >diarrhea worse or better? She does not have a diagnosis of stomach >ulcers just extra acid. Anyone out there who has had stomach >problems------please respond. Guest guest
Hi I have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and I had my surgery three weeks ago. So far, it hasn't been too bad. I haven't had any bouts with diarrhea yet. Dr. R. said that he had three others with the same problem and it so far has helped them. He said I could be the exception, but so far so good. Guest guest
Having NEVER suffered with diarrhea problems before, I find that my daughters stools are loose and she went to the bathroom very frequently yesterday. What have I done wrong?
