Guest guest
Hi, I am new to group. I have sypmtoms indicating that I have pancreatitis but the doctors did not find the enzyme in my blood work so they dismissed it and sent me home with the diagnosis " abdominal pain " and take " prevacid " once a day. I am so upset because this pain is beyond anything I have ever had. It is in my upper abdomen on the left. At my stomach and bores through to my back. I am in severe pain. The previcid wont help. and, the doctors won't listen to me. Any ideas how I should proceed. This pain isn't going away. Guest guest
Hello bevhart2@..., In reference to your comment: è Any ideas how I should proceed. This pain isn't going away. Dear Bev, If you have been read previous messages you will find this is an all too common occurance for those that suffer from pancreatitis. I do welcome you to the group. They are a group of caring individuals, but many receive their email in a daily digest so sometimes you will receive a reply right away, but sometimes it will be several hours. In the meantime, there is a wealth of information on our Home Website: http://www.pancassociation.com. I hope your pain has lessened and you will have a better day today, Gail West þ Many People, Many Faces, One Voice Indiana State Chapter Representative Pancreatitis Association International http://www.pancassociation.org contactPAIgwest@... Guest guest
Beverly, Keep on your doctor. Don't accept the answer " let's wait and see " . Make him give you a diagnosis. The worst thing you can do is self-diagnosis. Just keep on your doc's butt. The odds of anyone having pancreatitis are very small. There are hundreds of things much more common that can cause upper abdominal pain. If you have the pain and your pancreatic enzymes are normal then odds are very good it isn't pancreatitis. The only way you can have an attack and not have elevated enzyme levels is to be a long way down the slope to Chronic Pancreatitis. You cannot suddenly show up with CP without some type of traumatic event. Since you didn't mention anything I can see why your doc doesn't believe you have pancreatitis. Let the doc do his job but keep pushing so that he does. Chuck At 12:17 AM 9/24/02 -0400, you wrote: >Hi, I am new to group.
