diet and antioxidants

Hi Michele,

The diet I'm following can be termed a low glycemic index one; not unlike a

regimen a diabetic might follow. The key is to find a GI listing of foods

and try to stick with the low GI ones. No need to entirely eliminate carbs;

just choose and properly prepare ones that don't flush your system with

glucose too quickly post meal. i.e: bread?; try pumpernickel; pasta; el

dente only... and limit portions. It's my opinion that general health and

anti-aging benefits, in addition to skin improvement, can be gained from

such a diet.

Some links on GI with many foods listed:

searchable GI database:

The daily antioxidant combination I take is: 2gms pantothenic acid (reduced

oil and swelling), 750mg Niacinimide (reduced flaring and papules), 1gm

ester-C, 200mg ALA, 800 IU natural E, 50000 IU natural(!) beta carotene,

30mg zinc, 200 mcg (micrograms) selenium , 200 mcg chromium, a good

b-complex (for folic acid, biotin; note: also adds pantothenic acid and

niacinimide to daily intake so compensate accordingly...) I always buy

dosages that allow me to take the amounts in multible doses over the day:

AM, PM.

I suspect the niacinimide dose from your B vitamin might not be high enough

to provide the benefits you desire; my opinion is that at least 500mg/day is

preferable. It's considered safe long term at sub 1 gm/day levels according

to sources I referenced. But, obviously, check various sources and make the

choice that's right for you.

Cheers
