Guest guest
I'm wondering if someone could help clarify something in the BTVC. I only have an old copy right now, Food and the Gut Reaction, so I won't give page references, but Elaine first writes that if diarrhea is brisk, eggs should be avoided. Yet the intro diet, which is given as a starter and often is begun when people have diarrhea, includes eggs, both as a sampler breakfast menu offering, and is in the cheesecake. So if one is having brisk diarrhea, should they not be eating what is written in the beginner's diet? This has always bothered me, but when I first began the diet 2 1/2 years ago, I didn't have brisk diarrhea, so I just ate the eggs. Now I am suffering from brisk diarrhea brought on by an IV antibiotic I took 4 weeks ago, and have been doing the intro for 5 days. It is keeping things from worsening; I haven't gone to the bathroom more than 3 times in a day, however my stools are becoming looser. So should I be avoiding eggs? Which would leave chicken soup, jello, meat, and DCCC (which is unavailable in my area.) Does someone remember Elaine clarifying this information? Thanks, Debora
