I've had great success with the almond yogurt, per the website, using

Progurt probiotic; however, I found out that almonds are high in

arsenic & my ASD son does show arsenic on testing so I tried making

the yogurt using Vance's Dari-free and also cashew yogurt per the

website. It just doesn't " gel " like the almond yogurt did. Can someone

help me? My son REALLY MISSES HIS YOGURT! Thanks. Louise

I haven't even started SCD yet, but I'd guess that Dari-Free is not SCD

legal. It's made from potato and has sugar in it.

My son has had high levels of arsenic too. I didn't know about the

almonds. I'd personally try to find out exactly how big an issue arsenic

in almonds were, and meanwhile keep using the almond yogurt. Pressure

treated lumber (like in decks) and the soil around it is a big source or

arsenic. Also if you have well water you should test it. It can be

naturally occurring.

Did you make just cashew yogurt or did you try mixing the DariFree and

cashews to make the yogurt?

As Carol mentioned Dari-Free is not allowed on SCD because it is made

from potatoes.

Macadamias have been used successfully as well as raw cashews and

hazelnuts (filberts). Perhaps one of those would be a possibility.

I know there have been discussions on other lists about arsenic in

conventionally raised chickens.

Also, if your son spends time playing on treated wood playgrounds or

on a deck made from treated wood, I would definitely consider that as

a possible source of the arsenic since the wood is treated with arsenic.
