Guest guest
I've been reading and posting off and on since March of this year. I would like to find someone with my diagnosis to share and support and also someone who would like to email for same reasons; just to share and know that in this there is much of life as well to share. I began with pain and testing back in June of 2001 and it took to March 2002 to find the culprit. I am now under treatment for pancreatic ca in tail of pancreas w/mets to liver. I find it hard to relate to many of those I have treatment with due to differences in diagnosis and specific problems that are caused by various cancers. If anyone would care to correspond, please do. I am female, 51 and married. Currently I am down to a treatment bi-weekly of gemzar. Thank you for letting me post and hope there may be someone out there looking for someone to talk with who may be in the same situation. Hugs and prayers for all those going day to day in your circumstance. Hang in there; it is a day to day trial. Cass

Dear Cass, Well I did some research and you are indeed rare. Between having ca in tail of pancreas (instead of the head) and w/mets to liver I have not been able to find very much information. I did find information on Gemzar that " As the first new treatment for pancreatic cancer in several decades, Gemzar represents hope for patients and a breakthrough for Lilly scientists, " said August M. Watanabe, M.D., a vice president of the company and president of Lilly Research Laboratories. " The unique Gemzar study design, involving clinical benefit response, demonstrates the company's ongoing commitment to innovative research and development in oncology. " I can say that my father was in one of the first clinical studies for Luperon for liver cancer (size of a cantelope) and prostrate cancer and he has lived 15 years past the local hospitals diagnosis. He went to MD in Houston Texax and they still do a full MRI every six months. I remember giving him his shots through his med line and his wearing a coat to our July 4th party...Now he volunteers several days a week at the age of 76. He has instilled a very firm upbringing that we are to help whoever we can. Anyway, I don't share your diagnosis, but I would love to talk to you. If you wish you can email me at gwest1955@.... You can share anything you want...sometimes that helps too.
