Sen Dr. Sutherland an E-mail and he'll answer you back. Tell him that you're

interested in the Auto Eyelet Transplant and need some info to take to your doc.

MAybe if your doc see the info on the Auto Eyelet Transplant, he'll help you

with you insurance and maybe we'll continue to treat you with the proper pain

meds until you find out about your insurance will pay for the procedure. All lot

of doc are not too familiar with the Auto Eyelet Transplant, so sometimes we

need to educate them. This way you could possible put off the other surgery

until your get more info on the Auto Eyelet Transplant. I did have a whipple in

94 and was told after it was done that I would eventufully become a diabetic and

I did in 2000. So if I know what I know now about the whipple and had a chance

for an AUto Eyelet Transplant, I would definately go for the A.E.T. and not have

a whipple done. This is only my opinion. I sure others would disagree with me.

Just wanted to say thanks.

Hi, all. It's pretty late, and I don't know why in the world I'm

still up. My kids are asleep - I should be. I am visiting my Mom

before we go to my husband's family's for his grandmother's funeral.

I have been letting her read some of the posts, and she is so happy

that I found this group. I had told her a little about the auto islet

transplant, but, tonight, I got to show her the e-mails and

websites. What she said made a whole lot of sense to me, " ,

what do you have to lose with trying to get this surgery instead of

the one that is more than likely going to make you a diabetic? " I am

scheduled for either Puestow or Partial on Oct. 11. I mean, I am

tolerating my pain right now, so why not wait and see if my insurance

will cover the transplant, rather than have it pay for a procedure

that is not a for sure thing???? I know nothing is for sure, but it

just seems that the later of the two is the least likely to be

successful in the long term.

Anyways, I've had to take several pain meds today, so I am rambling

quite a bit (slurring a little here and there, too). I think letting

my Mom read some of your guys stories was of benefit to her. It

allows her to see through others voices how much pain I really have

been in on a constant basis - although, I know she sees me and

definitely believes me. Thank God for her. She has always watched

my oldest son, Zane, when I was sick or in the hospital. She'd just

pack her bags and come to stay with us. While I was pregnant with

Clay, she would come and just sit with me during the day at the

hospital, and then she'd go home in the evening and take care of

Zane, clean the house, cook for he and my husband. She's the

greatest Mommy ever! But,she always worries about me taking the pain

meds - afraid I'll become addicted. Thank God for my sometimes too

strong resolve - it's not been a real problem yet. By your words,

she sees the need for the meds now. I'm so glad I found you guys!

Question - What do you do to get a pain care physician? My doctor,

if I choose not to have my procedure in October, won't just treat me

with pain meds. He already told me -says it's just too dangerous. I

love him, and I understand his worry. But, I can't run to the ER

everytime I get this pain. I'd live there!

I won't be able to check my mail until Wed. The funeral is Tuesday,

so I won't get back til late. So, I hope to hear some good response

when I get back. I really appreciate all of you - I do thank God for

you all in my prayers. Thanks so much for the kind words re: my

husband's grandmother's death. He is just now starting to feel the

pain of the situation, and I find it truly wonderful that you care.
