That's a pretty good deal. You must be a pretty special person. Through out all of your posts, you always mention people who are reaching out to help you, people who go out of their way to contact you to see how you are doing, and people who obviously care about you and want to see you achieve an optimum level of wellness and experience some semblance of quality of life. What a good feeling to have people like that in your life. I believe the procedure you are talking about is called a Bilateral Splanectomy. (sp?) I think one of our members, Jackie B, of Indianapolis, had that done several years ago. It was a big success for her. I remember calling Dr. to see if I was a candidate. He said, that the procedure in itself was immensely painful. Being familiar with my internal anatomy from the Distal Pancreatectomy he had done earlier that year, and knowing my ability to tolerate painful procedures, he recommended against me having it done. It may not be that procedure, however, because, it wouldn't make sense that you would still have those nerves following a Total Pancreatectomy. If you find out any more about the procedure he is recommending, please let me know. I continue to be in constant pain and my goal is to eventually discontinue the pain medication I require 24/7 at this time, the Oxycontin, Morphine, Duragesic, ACTIQ, and Dilaudid.
