Guest guest
I remember reading in the past that Culturelle is illegal. Is that because of the inulin, or is the lactobaccillus GG species itself an illegal? Is there a lactobaccillus GG that is not grown on inulin, with SCD legal ingredients? I may be dealing with a c.difficile infection, and I have read that lactobaccillus GG might be an effective treatment. I am picking up sacchromysas boullardii today, and will start that. Although I've read that sacchromysas has been tested to be effective in conjunction with Vancomycin, but did not have an effect alone. Has anyone had success with just sachromysas alone? I won't get my c.difficile result back until Monday, but figured the probiotics would be a good start, and may help control the diarrhea that was caused by the IV antibiotic I took 4 weeks ago; if I don't have c.difficile, hopefully it can help me return to normal. I am already taking a larger than usual amount of the Lyosan acidopholus, on the intro diet (day 4) and eating lots of yogurt, but so far, things are only worsening. In my reading, these other strains are more effective than what's in the Lyosan or the yogurt. Thanks, Debora
Guest guest
I know that culturelle has 10 ppm(parts per million) of casein per dose. Some people are so sensitive to casein that that amount can be very dangerous -and is not casein free. I don't know of other reasons besides that. 33y mcs, mom to fiol 14mo ASD > > I remember reading in the past that Culturelle is illegal. Guest guest
Culturelle is L. Casei... which is also one of the main probiotics in Progurt dairy free starter from GI Pro Health: http://www.giprohealth.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc? Screen=PROD&Store_Code=GIProHealth&Product_Code=Progurt&Category_Code =starter I'm using it on my son with goat's milk yogurt and I swear it's going a lot more than acidophilus/bulgaricus/thermophilus yogurt. He has confirmed bacteria issues from stool tests but we haven't tested for c. diff. Another benefit of Progurt depending on the child is that Progurt yogurt is a lot less tart and acidy.
