Guest guest
Heidi, Excellent news about the kidney and the pseudocysts. Are you still taking the anti oxidants ? I had a kidney appointment as well. I have a large kidney stone in my right kidney that will require some surgery in about 6 months. Since I am not in an any kidney pain I told the surgeon that I could not manage surgery at this time due to my acting up SOD and the fact that I am helping to take care of my brother in law in the evenings and still working full time. ( or as much as you can say full time, still about 32 to 40 hours a week). I was in so much pain yesterday at work that I was in tears. My boss who is a male took one look at me and told me to go home. But I told him unless you are going to pay for my bills, you will need to put up with my pain behaviors today. Needless to say , he stayed away from me all day. Maybe I should at least act like I am in pain every day.... a nice way to get people to leave you alone !!!!!! Better go for now, have lots to do tonight. I actualy get to have the night off so to speak and 's birthday is this wekend, so I have a lot to do. Sure miss you all. Lily Dr.'s Appt. I had my GI appointment today. It was a brief examination and discussion. My GI felt that the cyst on my kidney that the radiology report just mentioned was nothing to be concerned about, and the doctor was optomistic and pleased with the reduction of my pancreatic pseudocysts. Now that they are all 3 cm. or less in size he says he won't need to see me or CT-scan them again until 6 months from now. He feels they are showing all indications of completely resolving on their own. My appointment with the pain management doctor two weeks ago was relatively unproductive, except for her suggestion to my GI that he increase my pain medications. So he upped the Percocet to 10's. At least the 10's have less acetominaphen than what I was taking before, so perhaps there's still hope for a healthy liver! Certainly not very exciting news, yet this is certainly the kind of news I can live with! With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina hhessgriffeth@... Guest guest
Lily, please take care of yourself too! I know you need the work and you are helping your brother in law, but you can't neglect taking care of you or you won't be able to do that work or help with your brother in law. Is there no one else who can at least help with your brother in law for a break? Worried about you. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... Guest guest
Heidi, I just got on this site again. As you know I have been out of comission due to my family illnesses. Since I spoke to you last via email, my brother in law passed away. My sister is doing OK, taking it a day at a time and their kids are,,,,,, well,,,,, kids, at age 8 and 11, they miss their dad. This just happened a month and 1/2 ago so the holiday season has been rough on us all. They live beside my parents and my uncle lives on the other side of them. Within 30 days my uncle died of lung cancer as well. So needless to say, 2 deaths in 30 days,,, my mind and body are shot ! My parents are holding up ok,,, as if we have a choice in these matters that are out of our control. I have now gone back to work again and take it a day at a time. Had a few flare ups, but I am sure that it was related to stress ( go figure ! ). I am still doing my acupuncture and that gives me allot of help too. So what is up with your gallbladder ?? I have not been able to follow many of the emails because I have not been on the site, but I see where you are having a CT scan ? I am gald that you got your favorite CT tech to do the scan !!! That will be nice. Have you had an ultrasound of the gallbladder yet to check for stones ? How about a HIDDA Scan... it checks the functioning of the GB. My US was normal but I flunked the HIDDA Scan test big time. Anything less than a 40 means the GB is not working. It actually may be definitely worth doing if the CT shows no changes for you. When they do the HIDDA, if you pain is duplicated when they inject the dye during a certian part of the test, it usually means the results are positive and out goes the GB . I would still get a second opinion if I were you before I have the GB taken out. You are so close to Dr. Cotten, you should consider a consult with him if possible after all of your testing is done. Any possibility with that ? Better go for now, time to get my little one up and in the shower. Hugs to Austin from us. Sure miss you. Does hubby still have his job, I know it was touch and go for a while. My hubby is having a MRI done Monday, his knees are so bad, he may need to have a total knee replacement soon. he is too young for that. But then once you reach 45 ,,, 60 seems young !! I think of you guys often and I am so glad that we had a chance to meet and spend time tgether last year. Please take care and I hope everything works out for you, Lily Thank you Hi Gang, I just wanted to thank everyone who replied to my inquiries about gallbladder problems. All your personal experiences and advice is most appreciated. Today has thus far been a much better day, still twinges of pain, but I have my CT-scan set up for the first thing Monday and was even able to request the great CT technician named Drew that did my last scan that went so smoothly. After having an acute attack last December following a CT-scan, you can understand why I get a little " stressed-out " , LOL!....about them, but this man did a great job on my June scan and that helps so much to calm the butterflies. With the holidays and all, I'm sure I won't get a follow-up call from my doctor with the results until after Christmas, or even the week of the new year. Only then will I know what's going on. And then I know I can rely upon you all again if I have any more questions. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth SC Southeastern Representative Pancreatitis Association, Intl. Guest guest
Dear Heidi, I am so glad to see your post. I am glad that your visit went better than expected. Don't worry about the EGD and colonscopy, your GI guy will drug you enough. It sounds as if once you got past Nurse Cruel Carol that this guy may be pretty decent to talk with. He seems to remember a lot about you which is a positive thing. I know that your testing will be fine and all normal. Did you mention the HIDA Scan to him??? I am glad that you are getting some relief from the Duragesic patches. I think Karyn our founder has had a lot of experience with them and may be able to give you some info. also has taken them in the past. She presently is down with double pneumonia and has a very nasty cough and fever. I talk with her quite often just to check in on her. She is having a rough time. I will ask her to send you an email when she feels better and she can share her Duragesic experiences. Are you going to a new pain management doc or the same one as before? I thought that you had considered the blocks before but decided against it or has my memory gone south again. Actually going south sounds pretty good as it is a whole 19 degrees here.. burr! The Celexa may take 4 weeks or so to kick in as a lot of the antidepressants take a while. I think tried it and it made her sleepy. Did you get to start off with a low dose and maybe slowly increase? That is an idea if you get too sleepy initially. Check out the web site www.rxlist.com. They have lots of drug info there. I wish I could help you with your weight loss. I know when I dropped that 50 pounds real fast with no choice, I was a nervous wreck, lost weight, lost my hair, lost my appetite and was I ever bummed. Just try small frequent meals and try to sneak in small amounts of protein with the carbs. few bites of chicken or pork, lean stuff. And the soy beans really helped me. Now I did not say they tasted great but they helped with the hair loss and helped me with the stabilizing of the weight loss. But the acupuncture I think was my really saving grace. Odd I know. My acupuncture physician is so nice and compassionate that they tease him in the office and tell me " Lily, Dr. Prick will be with you soon! " . And he is smooth when he pricks those needles as I can't feel a thing. It is so nice to have a doctor with a sense of humor. And he doesn't even mind when I ride my broom in there either. He even gives hugs and listens. It's amazing how that is supposed to work, just a fortunate example of the right doctor with the right fit for the right patient. It took some looking but I found one. A keeper I call him, Dr. Keeper. I am sorry to hear about hubbys pension. We too have taken a big loss this year. All I can say is hopefully with patience we will get some back. Keeping fingers crossed. Is he all done with his real estate training in the event he does lose his job completely? Right now I just can't let myself worry about the financial loses as it would drive me nuts. And my boss does enough of that, so one at a time I guess. Maybe I will take her a ride on my broom to Memphis and drop her off at Rhonda's internal medicine docs. Then I will put my broom in the back of the docs' Mercedes and drive it back to Ohio after I have picked up a bunch of smokers and hitch hikers and drive thru Mcs a few dozen times just to get the good broken in smell in that nice car. What do you think, perhaps some cat liter and fish sandwiches, or shrimp would be good too! (Ok, enough already, see how bad I am? No wonder my husband has gray hair, he earned every one of them !!) Hugs to Austin from , Take care, Lily
