more good news

This is a little update on how things are going for me.

Last Sat I went to my GYN, for the PAP test that is required for the packet,

and had a great talk with her about my having the MGB. She totally supports

this! WooHoo! She even said that she'd write a strong letter of

recomendation to my insurance for it... to compliment my PCP's letter. (At

that time I wasn't sure about him writing me a recomendation letter as I'd

not been able to speak to him yet at that time.) What a great gal!

Today I got a call from my PCP's nurse. She handed the phone over to my PCP

after verifying that it was me on the other end of the line. Dr.

and I had a SUPER talk about WLS, options, and why I believe the MGB is the

best option for me. He shared with me that his Dad had WLS a few years ago

and from watching his experience he was definately a believer in how

appropriate it would be for me. (Yahoo!!) Remind me to send his office a

big fruit basket in thanks!!

The results:

My PCP is sending my chart notes to the insurance along with a very

supportive letter re: my having the MGB. He's also writing to the insurance

that he wants only Dr. Rutledge to do my procedure. (For coverage at

in-network rates) In addition to this, he is moving my sleep study (for

diagnosing sleep apnea) up to ASAP... I should hear tomorrow when I can have

that done.

In addition, my GYN is sending her chart notes and a strong reccomendation

to the insurance company as well.

I'm very very excited... I should have my packet done very soon!!

Oh yes... a quote for the day:!!

After I re-iterated Dr. R's statistics... extremely low percentages of

complications and mortality, surgery times, and recovery times...

My PCP said, " There are many out there who do WLS, but few who have mastered

it as he (Dr. R) obviously has. "

WOW... I'm blown away. Now to hear from the insurance. I'll be calling

them on Friday to see if they have gotten everything yet, and will be

dogging their tracks until I have the answer I want.
